Willem Veerman 1952

In his life Willem Veerman has kept a sketched diary. In 2006 there was an exhibition of 40 of his drawings in Galerie de Vlierhoven in Blaricum, the Netherlands. Both newspapers and art magazines published articles about this exhibition. In 2007 and 2008 there were two more exhibitions of his work in Groningen, the Netherlands.

Since then, his work has become more monumental. Because he wanted to bring his drawings and his oil paintings closer together, he started using black and white in his oil paintings. Cityscapes, cathedrals, docks and railways are his subjects. Heavy industry and steel are points of departure for his monumental drawings and oil paintings. All his oil paintings originate from the sketches in his diary.
